UN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS AT ZENZ ORGANIC

It is important for us to take care of your health and our planet. In continuation of this, the UN's Sustainable Development goals are an integral part of what we do at ZENZ Organic. At ZENZ Organic, we work specifically with 12 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development goals. The goals we cannot actively support on our own, we contribute to through partnerships with other companies. IMPROVING CIRCUMSTANCES

GOAL #1 - NO POVERTY
Together with one of Denmark’s largest privately funded children’s rights organisations, PlanBørnefonden, ZENZ Organic helps young mothers out of poverty and prostitution in Kampala, Uganda. The women receive a hairdressing education and thus the opportunity to support themselves and their family.

GOAL #3 - GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
ZENZ Organic Products take care of your health and therefore avoid all ingredients that are, or are suspected of being, endocrine disrupting, allergenic or carcinogenic. We ensure good working conditions throughout our company - including our production, which mainly takes place in Denmark.

EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

GOAL #4 - QUALITY EDUCATION
In collaboration with the PlanBørnefunden, we help to provide vulnerable women in Kampala, Uganda, with a hairdressing education. Many of these women start their own salon after graduation. We have started ZENZ Organic Academy to maintain a high, professional level in the hairdressing profession. We offer further education, including management training, for hairdressers.

GOAL #5 - GENDER EQUALITY
We are in favour of 100% equality in terms of gender, religion, ethnicity and other matters. At ZENZ Organic, the majority of our employees are women - not because of their gender, but because they are skilled at their job.

CONSCIOUS ENVIRONMENT

GOAL #6 - CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION
ZENZ Organic Products protects our groundwater - both during the production phase and when people use the products. Our products are made without the use of a wide range of ingredients that can harm the environment and our groundwater. Almost all products carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, which is the official Nordic eco-label.

GOAL # 7 - AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY
We buy our energy from sustainable energy sources and help to ensure that more green energy is used in the Danish electricity grid.

CHANGING THE INDUSTRY

GOAL #9 - INDUSTRY, INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE
The founders of ZENZ Organic Products, Anne-Sophie Skjødt Villumsen and Jørgen Skjødt, won the award for ‘Fiery Soul of the Year’ at the Danish Beauty Award 2021 for their pioneering work to create a more sustainable beauty industry. We are proud to influence the standard of sustainability in the beauty industry, as well as to inspire to the development of more sustainable ingredients and technologies in beauty products.

GOAL #10 - REDUCED INEQUALITIES
We take pride in paying a fair salary to our employees. We fight to reduce inequality in many areas, by supporting the PlanBørnefonden and other projects and organizations working to reduce inequality.

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY

GOAL #12 - RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
At ZENZ Organic, we take responsibility for the world around us, and we are constantly working to become even more sustainable in all parts of our company and production. ZENZ Organic Products contains the maximum proportion of active, natural and certified organic ingredients. The majority of our products are produced in Denmark in packaging that is made from recycled plastic. Customers can refill haircare products in our salons, and we collect our own product packaging and turn it into products that we can use in our interiors. Leading by example, as well as through our communication about sustainability, we wish to influence others to live more sustainably.

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS

GOAL #14 - LIFE BELOW WATER
ZENZ Organic Products helps to clean up the oceans, and thereby improve the opportunities for life in the sea. We work with ReSea, which collects plastic from the world's oceans and rivers on a 1: 1 ratio against the product's packaging weight every time we produce a ZENZ Version 2.0 product.

GOAL #15 - LIFE ON LAND
ZENZ Organic works to reduce the production of new materials such as virgin plastic as well as the amount of residual waste we create, for the benefit of our planet and life on land. The majority of ZENZ Organic Products are made in recycled plastic packaging, and we reduce the need for new packaging by offering refills of hair care products in our salons in Denmark. For our webshop, we pack orders with recycled cardboard and paper tape. In this way, we reduce the amount of residual waste our products create.

COLLABORATION

GOAL #17 - PARTNERSHIPS FOR THE GOALS
We continuously collaborate with organisations locally and globally, who work to support the Sustainable Development Goals just like us. These organisations include PlanBørnefonden, Dansk Folkehjælp, Mødrehjælpen, Knæk Cancer and UNICEF.
